Choice (story)
Rikky was a
popular name in the group since he was in class eight. Until class seven he was
called Rame, originally Ram Prasad. He got popularity in the group because of
his behavior. If any gang fight was there in the school, the designer was
Rikky. If anyone cheated in the exam, it was Rikky. If anyone had the
possibility of being fail, it was Rikky.
His boldness
and courage did mostly the bad things. The only good thing was that he spoke
boldly in support of the students in the class and also in the office. This
part of Rikky was supported by some good students as well.
Rikky became a
buzz word in his circle when he cleared his high school exam after four years
of continuous trial. Drinking, smoking, teasing the local girls, making
unnecessary noise in the community, bullying the juniors and so many things
were associated with him.
Once, Rickky
happened to go to another village in a marriage ceremony. He was accompanied by
some of his best friends. As a classmate, Hari, a true and genuine student,
also mixed with his team. Hari was a masterminded person in both science and mathematics.
He was well in other subjects and behavior, too. He had never tasted alcohol,
never chewed tobacco and never failed in the exam. He was polite with others and
gentle in look.
In the
evening, a group of girls of that village, who were also enjoying the same
marriage ceremony, happened to mix with the boys. As it was the gathering of
future brides and bridegrooms, they talked each other for some hours. They
talked and shared about their past records and future plans and departed. They
soon started enjoying the ceremony.
I was also
busy in taking photos there. At the same time, I happened to overhear the
girls' talking. One of the girls in the blue dress was saying to her friend
that Rickky could be better husband for her. They wished he would join politics
very soon.
